UFO Files From National Archive Revisit ‘Welsh Roswell’

UFOGUARDIAN– UFO enthusiasts called it the “Welsh Roswell” and insisted that one evening in 1974 an alien craft crashed in north Wales and the government secretly removed dead extraterrestrial bodies, the latest files from the National Archives reveal today.

The documents describe how residents of Llandrillo in Merionethshire, near the Berwyn mountains, first reported strange lights streaking across the sky. Then as the night wore on the villagers heard a colossal explosion and felt a tremor ripple through their homes.

Later ufologists claimed roads were sealed off and people kept away from the site after the incident on 23 January 1974. Alien bodies were then taken to Porton Down biological warfare centre for analysis, it was claimed, prompting the comparisons with Roswell, the 1947 incident in which, conspiracy theorists claimed, the US military recovered an alien spacecraft in New Mexico – the story that gave birth to 60 years of ufology, movies and all.

The latest batch of UFO files show how experts at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) initially struggled to explain the Llandrillo incident. A search and rescue team from RAF Valley, on Anglesey, was scrambled in response to the reports of an explosion and a large fire on the mountainside. Some witnesses described seeing a “bright red light, like a coal-fire red. Large perfect circle. Like a big bonfire. Could see lights above and to the right and white lights moving to bottom.”

Phoenix Lights Investigation Re-Opens Mystery

alienEXAMINER– Witnesses to the March 1997 mass UFO sightings wave that became known as the Phoenix Lights are coming forward with previously unreported accounts, thanks to the broadcast of American Paranormal: UFOs Over Phoenix on the National Geographic Channel.

That broadcast repeats tonight and Monday morning and is expected to provoke even more witnesses to come forward. The result is that a new understanding is forming of the events of that night.

The investigation, conducted by the Phoenix UFO Examiner for Base Communications, presented a broad outline of the still unexplained mass sightings events as detailed by three iconic witnesses: Tim Ley, Mike Fortson and Michael Kryzston.

These witnesses characterize both the first wave of shockingly big objects (craft?) that drifted across the state in the 8:00 PM time frame and the more enigmatic and contoversial lights that were observed and recorded around 10:00 south of the greater metropolitan Phoenix area.

Mediterranean Microfossils Offer Hope for Finding Life On Mars

marsSCIENCE NEWS– Tiny fossils discovered on Earth in samples of sulfates, a class of minerals recently found to be common in some parts of Mars, bodes well for finding vestiges of life on the Red Planet, astrobiologists reported April 28 during a briefing held in conjunction with the Astrobiology Science Conference 2010 in League City, Texas.

Bill Schopf of the University of California, Los Angeles, and his colleagues discovered the fossils in deposits of gypsum, or calcium sulfate, that were deposited in the Mediterranean Sea 6 million years ago and then thrust up into the Alps.

The discovery, which included plankton and single-celled organisms such as cyanobacteria (pond scum), some filling areas tens of micrometers in diameter, was a surprise, he said. Schopf and other researchers had assumed that as sulfate crystals grow, they would crush and obliterate any microfossils that might have been trapped inside the minerals, “but that turned out not to be the case,” he said.

Life Discovered on Saturn’s Moon Titan

Jun 5, 2010

saturnTELEGRAPH– Evidence that life exists on Titan, one of Saturn’s biggest moons, appears to have been uncovered by Nasa scientists.

Researchers at the space agency believe they have discovered vital clues that appeared to indicate that primitive aliens could be living on the moon.

Data from Nasa’s Cassini probe has analysed the complex chemistry on the surface of Titan, which experts say is the only moon around the planet to have a dense atmosphere.

They suggest that life forms may have been breathing in the planet’s atmosphere and also feeding on its surface’s fuel.

Astronomers claim the moon is generally too cold to support even liquid water on its surface. The research has been detailed in two separate studies.

The first paper, in the journal Icarus, shows that hydrogen gas flowing throughout the planet’s atmosphere disappeared at the surface. This suggested that alien forms could in fact breathe.

The second paper, in the Journal of Geophysical Research, concluded that there was lack of the chemical on the surface.

Scientists were then led to believe it had been possibly consumed by life.

Canadian Politician Defends Aliens

alienDIGITAL JOURNAL– Author of “A Brief History of Time” Stephen Hawking is wrong when it comes to contact with aliens, according to former Canadian Defence Minister Paul Hellyer who believes extraterrestrials have contributed to human technological advancements.

Digital Journal reported last week that Professor Stephen Hawking stated the thought of alien life as “perfectly rational” to him but urged caution seeking out extraterrestrials for fear that they might raid us for our resources, “If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans.”

According to CNET News, Hawking stated this week that time travel is possible and that one day we will have spaceships that are so fast that 650 million miles per hour would be similar to one year on planet Earth.

Eventually, says Hawking, Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity will one day be obsolete. In theory, humans will be able to “colonize the future” and maybe even repopulate the Earth if a disaster were to occur on the planet and cause the human species to die off, reports the Times Online.

“Time travel was once considered scientific heresy and I used to avoid talking about it for fear of being labelled a crank, but these days I’m not so cautious,” said Hawking.
