DESIGN BOOM– Danish artist Peter Callesen doesn’t so much create works on paper, but rather works from paper. He uses paper as his medium, creating sculptural works by folding paper. But his work is more complicated than than cutting and pasting pieces of paper. Each work is made by cutting a single sheet and using only the removed paper to create figures or buildings. According to Callesen, “My paper works have been based around an exploration of the relationship between the two and three dimensionality. I find the materialization of a flat piece of paper into a 3D form almost a magic process.”

Mark Jenkins – Street Installations

MEDIA ROOTS- Mark Jenkins’s work with inserting the human form into settings that are jarring and unsettling- like digging through a garbage can, dead face down in a riverbank, or a suicidal girl atop a billboard,  calls into question the relationship human beings have with each other in big cities. Hundreds of people walk busily by his displays and don’t give them a second look. What does that say about our society? Nonetheless, his art is extremely provocative and fun to follow.

Andy Kehoe – Painter

Keeper of the Beacons

Humanity Bleeds

Greeting the Simple Life

The Flood Brings Curious Encounters

All works are done with oil and acrylic on wood panels

Andy Kehoe was born and raised in the city of steel, Pittsburgh, PA. The artist spends his days painting away in his attic in Portland, OR. He was bred on comics from an early age, finding an escape of sorts in the over stylized violence found within. Now longing for the days of his youth, the artist remembers the endless hours he spent absorbing all the storybooks and cartoons he could get his hands on, all the while doodling away on any scrap of paper available. His paintings are rich with a childlike innocence that recall a time when magic and monsters existed and all the untold mysteries of the world still seemed possible.
