Martin’s debut film, Gaza Fights for Freedom, was filmed during the Great March of Return protests and the ensuing humanitarian crisis, both of which have been largely ignored by mainstream media. The Empire Files is excited to announce that ‘Gaza Fights For Freedom’ will be screening across the US and in Canada. Filmmakers Abby Martin and Mike Prysner will be attending many of these screenings for Q&A after the film. The tour will be through the months of September and October.

About Gaza Fights For Freedom:

This debut feature film by journalist Abby Martin began while reporting in Palestine for her show The Empire Files, where she was denied entry into Gaza by the Israeli government on the accusation she was a “propagandist” and an “agent of Iran.” So Abby connected with a team of journalists in Gaza to producing the film through the blockaded border. 

This collaboration shows you Gaza’s protest movement like you’ve never seen before. Filmed during the height of the Great March Of Return protests, it features exclusive footage of demonstrations where 200 unarmed civilians have been killed by Israeli snipers since March 30, 2018. 

The documentary tells the story of Gaza past and present, showing rare archival footage that explains the history never acknowledged by mass media. You hear from victims of the ongoing massacre, including journalists, medics and the family of internationally-acclaimed paramedic, Razan al-Najjar.

Of everything ‘Gaza Fights For Freedom’ shows, it is at its core an indictment of the Israeli military for war crimes, with thorough legal documentation and exclusive evidence.
