"Free-market advocates don’t look at earth resources beyond market shares, and their corporate mantra is to continuously maximize profits."... there should be a follow up line to that, "because consumers refuse to punish corporations which pollute the environment through boycotts and strikes". It's really easy to blame "free-market advocates", as long as you refuse to look in the mirror. Boycotts, and strikes have been the fundamental tools of change in capitalism, since the idea was first theorized. Often when I read arguments that are "pro environment", what I find are people basically saying "The government should force me to buy solar panels, electric vehicles, and safe products, because I simply refuse to". Skip the middle man! Electric motorcycles and solar panels exist, American consumers simply need to buy them. If consumers buy products that protect the environment, the profit motive will change.

Corporations, will always maximize profit, because in most liberal democracies, it is illegal for them not to do so. They have a "responsibility for shareholder return on investment". If you want to solve the climate crisis, don't buy products from psychopaths. Thus, the profit incentives will reward businesses that aren't run by psychopaths, and they can legally waste less power.

Until the consumers who complain about green technology not having a foothold in this country, actually start buying green technology, nothing can change. It would, in fact, be illegal for a corporation to try to encourage that change. It would also be impossible to win a vote on a climate change bill, because people are already voting with their dollars. If Americans wanted to heal the environment, they could do it by shopping (or refusing to shop). Americans have proven time and time again, that they aren't buying sustainable products, because they'd rather save a few pennies, or dollars, so they can spend it at TGI Friday's.

Do you own an electric motorcycle and solar panels, or bike to work, or only buy products that attempt to use green energy? If not, your entire argument is suspect. Climate change deniers are idiots, but the only thing worse than an idiot is someone who knows better, but still does evil crap. Peace and love.
